IP is in the air: Aeronord, gas balloons and anti-COVID-19 devices

Aeronord Aerostati produces and manages gas balloons, inflatables and a wide range of related products, mostly for being used in trade fairs, advertising, scientific research and sports events.

The company has been constantly innovating this market since 1960 by introducing several novel concepts. Claudia Cisaro is in charge of Communication and New Businesses at Aeronord and she is also tasked with making sure that the all innovations are properly managed and protected.

A few months ago Claudia selected Bernstein as an effective and flexible tool for securing the intellectual property assets of Aeronord. Today we had the opportunity to chat with Claudia and learn more about the specific use cases for Bernstein's certifications.

How is Bernstein helping Aeronord?

We started by registering a product we developed in partnership with a company specialized in sanitization services. We conceived a device that communicates and, at the same time, prevents Covid-19 diffusion, an inflatable arch that spreads an antibacterial aerosol on those passing through it, a sanitizing gate.

In all collaboration projects it is important to make sure each partner is able to register independent contributions and set them apart from co-results and follow-up developments. And Bernstein certifications enables us to do just that.

Have you ever been involved in an IP litigation?

Unfortunately, yes. Once we partnered with a Chinese company for manufacturing a product, then this company used our IP and know-how to launch its own product. This of course resulted in a complex and extremely expensive litigation.

I am convinced that, in similar situations, we could build stronger contractual frameworks with partners and suppliers by referencing the shared knowledge via Bernstein certifications, for example in NDAs and other agreements governing the collaboration.

What is next?

In today’s global economy the information is circulating rapidly and it’s becoming more and more difficult to maintain a competitive advantage.

In this context, we plan to keep using Bernstein for all our innovation projects. We are especially keen to start registering our ideas, designs and models since the very early stages, The versioning system included in Bernstein will give us a chain of certifications that indisputably proves that all knowledge in the project was originated inside Aeronord.

Competitors will no longer be able to copy our products, introduce minor changes and then look for formal protection of their me-too creations. And Aeronord will retain the freedom to use the innovation and technologies it develops and defend them worldwide!

Thanks Claudia!
